Sydney Opera House 40th Birthday
The Sydney Opera House turned to GPJ to produce and manage its public celebrations on the occasion of its 40th birthday in 2013.
GPJ created, designed, built, produced and delivered a major public event, attended by 20,000 people and on Sydney Harbour, and received mass media coverage.
The number of important stakeholders was significant and diverse.
GPJ’s expertise came to the fore in moving a project forward while engaging with key people from Commonwealth and State Government, including Tourism authorities, corporate and SOH Trusty sources, complying with regulations and of course, delivering the wow-factor.
A colossal 6m cupcake became the centerpiece around which a host of dignitaries assembled, along with the Royal Australia Navy Band, indigenous dancers, dozens of Surf Lifesavers, a flotilla of ferries and fire-tugs, daylight pyros and distributing over 6,000 cupcakes to the audience.
Its simplicity and charm had the desired effect – to generate fresh publicity and reignite the love for Australia’s best-known building.
The execution of this event was seamless, delivering positive media sand PR coverage Australia-wide and in over 100 countries worldwide for Sydney’s and our nation’s most recognized icon.
